This is not your parents' Hebrew school!


Communiteen
is a two-year program that encourages students
in exploring their Jewish identity using Jewish sources to discuss family history, life issues and their personal relationship to the Jewish people.


Communiteen gives teens Judaism their way. the program stimulates students intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and socially. Teens share questions and concerns in an open, welcoming atmosphere with peers from all Jewish backgrounds.


Students receive a certificate of completion of two years of study.
There are no tests and no homework. Classes are discussion based, guided by expert teachers able to relate to teens.

The Big Ideas of being Jewish

The Big Ideas course explores critical ideas and questions in Judaism,things like: the worth of human life, ethics and free will, the meaning of evil and teen issues of money, sex, and family through text-based discussions. This two-year course provides tools to make life decisions using what Judaism has to offer.


The American Jewish Experience
This first year course explores how Jewish idenity is a composite of the people, experiences and events that preceded us. It relates the jewish experience to general u.s. history, and helps students indentify this history as their own story.


Why Israel?

This second year course explores israel's significance to american jews by looking at israeli culture, geography, politics and international relations.


Cost is $350.00
These courses are held on the Sarasota-Manatee Jewish Federation campus.
